ExoMars

As I promised to you, I’m here trying to tell you a bit of this amazing workshop. Chicarro unfortunately wasn’t present for the first speech. The morning is started with J. L. Vago, speaking about ExoMars. Well, as presented today ExoMars is really cool, I didn’t know so much about this mission that is still in a preliminary phase but my first impression is that ESA wants to differentiate a lot from Mars Explortion Rovers and even from Mars Science Laboratory despite of the same way of moving on Mars surface.
The main goal is the search of life, or better, the search of aminoacids, nucleotides, sugars, phospholipides and pigments. Even traces like morphological evidence of alterated rocks by life will be searched.

A further speech by Carlo Cassi, a systems engineer who works on ExoMars explained the options of carry the rover on Mars surface. They still don’t know at the moment what kind of launcher and orbits to use. One option considers to launch an european telecom mars orbiter a year before the rover to be partially indipendent from MRO. But is not sure at all. A question arised from the public is what happens if MRO or other orbiters with good data transimission capabilities will be dead at the time ExoMars will land. Cassi answered saying the he is only a systems engineer and politc questions unfortunately don’t involve him. I would write more about ExoMars and other (MRO) but I have really few time to write and follow in the same time
