A new mineral: Meridianite

Today has been presented a study about sulphates found by Mars Exploration Rovers. Well, it’s a mineral that can exist only in special conditions of temperature and % of water. Few days ago, the International Commission for Minerals and Mineral Nomenclature called it officially: Meridianite!
I’ll try to post more infos later :)
But there is a mistery: why this name,”Meridianite”, if all the pictures I’ve seen in the presentation are about Spirit located in Gusev crater?meridianite.jpg
